CARBON COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — The Carbon Metro Drug Task Force (CMDTF) recently seized guns, a slew of illicit drugs, and around $20,000 in cash as part of an investigation into drug distribution across Carbon County.

The task force recently seized executed a search warrant in an investigation into cocaine and THC cartridge distribution in the area. Authorities reportedly seized four firearms, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, THC cartridges and wax, various drug paraphernalia for both distribution and use, and around $20,000 in cash.

“Rural Utah has seen an alarming rise in fatal and non-fatal overdoses related to cocaine use,” Price Police said in a statement on social media. “We urge the community to remain vigilant about the increased likelihood of fentanyl—a dangerously potent substance—being mixed into street-purchased drugs such as heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and even prescription pills.”

According to police, the emergence of carfentanil, an opioid around 100 times stronger than fentanyl, has made its way into Utah and could pose significant risks to drug users, especially in rural communities.

Price Police also said that while investigations into drug distribution are crucial, services for support, treatment, and recovery are equally important.

“We recognize that drug enforcement can be perceived as a disruption during the addiction recovery process, yet it is often a necessary intervention to protect lives. We are committed to being an ally in this endeavor,” the statement reads. “We strongly encourage individuals struggling with addiction to reach out to local resources for assistance in their recovery journey. Our aim is to support you, foster understanding, and promote a healthier community.”
