Rolling traffic stops scheduled in part of Tazewell County

TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA (WVNS) — Rolling traffic stops are scheduled in part of Tazewell County due to work from Appalachian Power.

According to a press release, rolling traffic stops will take place from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025 between Bluefield and Tazewell, Virginia on U.S. Route 460 near Grandview Memorial Gardens.

The press release stated that the traffic stops would be due to Appalachian Power planning to replace a small pole with a larger pole, weather permitting.

According to the press release, switching the poles, restringing lines, and the moving of conductors are “part of Appalachian Power’s make-ready work, clearing the way for expanded broadband access in rural areas.”

The press release stated that police support and traffic flagging crews will be at the rolling traffic stops to help keep drivers safe.
