PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was found guilty of smuggling a loaded gun in his underwear while being booked into jail after a traffic stop, authorities said.

On Thursday, a Washington County jury found Jerone Enrico Cuie guilty of being an inmate in possession of a weapon and other charges.

On Aug. 30, Beaverton police pulled Cuie over after they saw a forged registration tag on his vehicle, the Washington County District Attorney’s Office said.

“Officers learned the defendant was driving with a suspended driver’s license and was also issued a detainer related to a felony probation violation,” the Washington County DA said in a press release. “Officers conducted a search of his person and asked if they missed anything during the pat down, which he denied. While en route to the Washington County Jail, the defendant asked an officer if he would be subject to a strip search during the intake process.”

Deputies found a fully loaded handgun hidden in Cuie’s underwear during the intake process of the jail, prosecutors said.

Cuie was found guilty of possession of a weapon by an inmate, supplying contraband and being a felon in possession of a firearm, with the latter charge being due to Cuie’s previous unlawful use of a weapon felony conviction out of Multnomah County. He is set to be sentenced on Nov. 13.
