Kansas Jayhawks fall to Arizona in a last minute touchdown

TUCSON (KSNT) – KU football falls to Arizona 24-20 with due to a last-minute Wildcat touchdown.

Kansas won the toss and elected to defer to the second half.

The Wildcats would open up the scoring at the 7:15 mark in the first quarter with a 16-yard pass from quarterback Noah Fifita to tight end Sam Olson.

The Wildcats get on the board first with a 7-0 lead.

Kansas’ QB, Jalon Daniels, would tie things up with a one-yard rushing touchdown to make it 7-7 to close out the first quarter.

The Jayhawks would take the lead early in the second quarter with the help of a 24-yard Daniels pass to Emmanuel Henderson Jr.

Kansas’ defense would shine through in the second with back-to-back sacks from Dak Brinkley, forcing the Wildcats to punt.

The ‘Hawks would capitalize on the next possession for a 46-yard field goal kick from Laith Marjan to extend the Kansas lead to 10.

Arizona would score a touchdown before halftime with an 8-yard pass from Fifita to Quincy Craig.

The Jayhawks start with the ball to open the second half, but are unable to capitalize.

Arizona ties things up off a good 41-yard field goal kick, making it 17-17.

Kansas would regain the lead with another good field goal attempt from Marjan, this time from the 50-yard line. The ‘Hawks would retake the lead, 20-17.

Marjan would miss his next field goal attempt this time from 30-yard line. This would be the kicker’s first miss, field goal or extra point, of the season.

The Jayhawks held the lead strong in the fourth quarter until Arizona scores a touchdown with 39 seconds left in the game.

Kansas would be unable to respond, falling to Arizona 24-20.

Jalon Daniels went 15-29, throwing for 199 yards and one touchdown.

Henderson led the squad in receiving with 65 yards and one touchdown.

The Wildcats become bowl eligible with this win. Kansas is still looking for its sixth win of the season.

Next up, the ‘Hawks will travel to Ames to take on Iowa State. Kickoff time has yet to be announced.
