CHICAGO (WGN) — Two men were shot and killed Saturday evening during a robbery at a jewelry store in the Little Village neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

Officers responded to the 3800 block of West 26th Street just after 5:45 p.m. for reports of a robbery and shooting.

Police say an unknown man entered the store, displayed a gun and demanded property before taking items and leaving the business.

Once outside, the offender got into a physical altercation with two men. It escalated when the suspect fired several shots toward the victims, striking both multiple times.

A 63-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to his face, head and body. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. A 25-year-old man was also shot multiple times and taken to the same hospital, where he died.

The suspect fled the scene in a white SUV heading south on Springfield Avenue. No arrests have been made.

Area Four detectives are conducting the investigation.
