ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Illinois residents on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program may have to wait several days to receive their November payments.

A federal judge on Thursday ordered the Trump administration to make full SNAP payments for November despite the government shutdown, which remains at a stalemate.

The judge’s order requires the administration to make November payments to states by Friday.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, “Illinois SNAP customers will begin receiving partial November benefits Nov. 7 through Nov. 20. Those who are regularly scheduled to receive benefits Nov.1 through Nov. 6 will receive partial benefits over the next six days, with Nov. 1 benefits loading on Nov. 7, Nov. 2 benefits loading on Nov. 8, etc.”

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signed an Executive Order last month that provides $20 million in emergency funding for food banks and pantries in preparation for the pause of SNAP benefits.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is funded completely by the federal government, which gives the State of Illinois approximately $350 million to distribute each year.

Pritzker said the state cannot make up the funding gap, but through his executive order, he designated $20 million to support seven Illinois food banks that supply 2,600 food pantries across the state.

The funding comes from both the Budget Reserve for Immediate Disbursments and Governmental Emergencies fund and the Illinois Department of Human Services.
