Documents: No car seat causes child to fall from moving vehicle, Abilene father arrested
Christopher Mack, Jr., was booked into the Taylor County Jail Thursday for Endangering a Child in connection to an incident that was reported in March.
Court documents state CPS launched an investigation into Mack after a witness saw his small child fall out of a vehicle while it was moving and, “hit the ground face-first.”
This witness says a woman then got out of the vehicle to check on the child but when the witness asked if it was okay, she would not respond, according to the documents, which state Mack was driving the vehicle and would not respond to the witness either.
When CPS questioned Mack and the female, the documents state they initially claimed the child “maneuvered out of the car seat and was able to open the door because the lock was broken.”
However, the documents reveal the female eventually admitted there was no car seat after investigators were unable to locate one.
She also told detectives they took the child to a family member who had medical experience instead of to the doctor to be evaluated, the documents state.
Mack allegedly continued to insist there was a car seat but that it was broken and he didn’t know why the female would say that.
He was released from jail after posting bonds totaling $10,000.
It’s unknown if the female mentioned will be facing criminal charges at this time, so BigCountryHomepage.com is withholding her identity.
