2nd person charged in deadly Bar Zia shooting

A second person has been charged in connection with a shooting at Bar Zia that left one person dead and three others injured.

Dantrell Dajuan Clark faces one count of aiding and abetting second-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder.

26-year-old Arlonzo Williams made his first court appearance in connection with this case earlier this week.

Minneapolis police responded to a shooting at Bar Zia after 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 7. Four people had been shot.

One of the victims had been shot multiple times in his head and torso and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other victims are expected to survive.

Surveillance video showed that Williams was the gunman and that he was helped by two other men, one of whom was Clark, according to the criminal complaint.

Williams and Clark were seen arriving at Bar Zia and meeting up with the third man. They were patted down by security for weapons.

Court documents state that Williams and Clark were then seen leaving and re-entering the bar several times and weren’t patted down for weapons.

Once 21-year-old DaMarco Fletcher Jr. arrived at the bar, the three suspects were seen staring at him and speaking to one another. Clark was seen on surveillance video giving Williams an object, and Williams tucked the object into his waistband, court documents said.

Once Fletcher went onto the dance floor, Clark was seen punching him in the face before Williams shot him.

The bar erupted into chaos after the shooting, and the three suspects were able to escape.

Williams, Clark and the third man, who is not named in court documents, are all members of the Lows street gang. Court documents state that Fletcher was associated with the Highs, a rival gang.

Clark was arrested on Oct. 24. He was driving a vehicle consistent with the type of vehicle driven by the suspects on the night of the murder. Inside the vehicle, officers found a handgun that had been modified with an auto sear to make it function as a machine gun.

Clark was charged with fleeing in a motor vehicle and possession of a machine gun in connection with his arrest.

Investigators also searched Clark’s home and found another firearm, live ammunition of various calibers, over $20,000 in cash, and “various items which are consistent with an illegal drug operation.”

In an interview with police, Clark was shown surveillance photos from Bar Zia on the night of the shooting. Clark said that the man in the images “could be” him and that he was “not telling [police] that it’s not [him].” He also admitted to getting into a fight at the bar.

Court documents note that Clark has a prior conviction for second-degree assault for a gang-related shooting in 2020. His parole for this case ended in July. Clark is also pending sentencing for a fleeing case stemming from a chase.
