The incident happened around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Brophy Avenue.
According to police, the victims heard someone outside shouting that there was a fire and instructed them to exit the house.
Police said the victims looked outside and saw two male offenders standing near the rear door of the residence. The offenders then threw an object through the glass door and were about to enter the home, but were confronted by one of the victims.
The offenders fled the area and were last seen running northbound, police said.
Police describe the offenders as male, between the ages of 15 and 30-years old and wearing dark clothes.
Park Ridge Police, with the assistance of the Niles Police Department K9 Unit, searched the area for the two offenders with negative results.
