First, step back in time at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival, where medieval times come to life. The village of Albright in Hammond welcomes visitors with this weekend’s “pirate” theme, plus over 600 artisans, performers and interactive demonstrations celebrating the Renaissance era.
Celebrate the spirit of New Orleans at the Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival at Louis Armstrong Park. This free fest features some of the city’s best R&B and brass bands, plus plenty of delicious gumbo. Dance to the sounds of the Rebirth Brass Band, Trumpet Mafia and others.
Next, enjoy Destrehan Plantation’s Fall Festival Fundraiser, with over 150 arts and crafts booths, antiques and live music from Ryan Foret. For the kids, it’s a community celebration with pony rides, face painting and fall-themed activities.
Finally, the NOLA Black Tattoo Expo, the first-ever New Orleans tattoo convention dedicated to celebrating Black body artists, takes place at the Ashé Cultural Arts Center. The Expo will feature live tattooing from top Black artists, art vendors, body piercing and more.
