The Natchitoches Parish School Board has a bond measure on the ballot for residents in the Provencal and Cloutierville areas. The board states it would provide funding for Provencal Elementary and Junior High by restructuring existing construction debt from a previous bond and aligning taxing districts with current attendance zones.
The district said that, if approved, it would generate $12.5 million for facility and equipment upgrades, including replacing the HVAC system, upgrading classroom technology, repairing buildings, and improving athletic and music facilities.
It would be a five-mill reduction for residents in the current Provencal taxing district and a 15-million increase for the Cloutierville taxing district.
If not approved, the existing debt would remain in place, and none of the proposed construction would take place.
Early voting is underway, and election day is November 15.
