Man with outstanding warrant arrested after standoff in Provo

Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

PROVO, Utah (ABC4) — A man was arrested Wednesday evening after he refused to leave his motor home when Provo Police attempted to serve an outstanding warrant.

According to the Provo Police Department, at around 7 p.m. on November 5, police officers from Provo’s Crime Reduction Unit served a warrant on a motor home parked near 1460 S University Avenue.

The warrant was for Ronald G. Campbell, 55, who had an outstanding warrant for two counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.

Police said that Campbell refused to exit the motor home, and they tried multiple times to get him to come out. Eventually, officers breached the door and were able to safely take him into custody.

According to charging documents, on April 13, 2025, Campbell allegedly told the two victims that he would hit them with his RV and then drove the RV towards them, though he did not actually hit them.

Reportedly, one of the victims had been periodically staying in Campbell’s RV over that month, and that victim was collecting some belongings from the RV with the help of the other victim. Allegedly, Campbell had been drinking and began to throw things out of the RV.

The victims left the RV to pick up those items when Campbell allegedly rolled down his window and said, “I’m going to hit you,” and he then drove the RV towards the victims.

Campbell was booked into the Utah County Jail on a no-bail warrant, and police said that additional charges may be filed against him.
