Latest update has Marsha Judkins leading 2025 Provo mayor election in a nail-biter
As of the latest vote count update at 7:55 p.m. on November 5, 66 out of 66 precincts report that Marsha Judkins is ahead in the election results with 7,153 votes. Kaufusi, who has been the mayor of Provo since 2017 is behind at 7,094 votes.
Results are still not official, and this race is still too close to call. As of election night, Kaufusi was in the lead, but it was a very small margin.
Utah County Clerk Aaron Davidson told ABC4 that 41,000 votes have yet to be processed. Davidson says the ballots were expected to be processed by 8 p.m. Wednesday night, and these updated counts include at least some of those votes.
“I actually feel really good,” Judkins told ABC4 about the current state of the race. “If the trend continues… then I have a good chance of winning.”
According to Kaufusi’s campaign website, her guiding principles are keeping taxes low to maintain fiscal responsibility and manage growth, revitalize East Bay and Provo Towne Center to transform underused areas, preserve open space and refresh neighborhood parks, and invest in infrastructure.
Prior to election day, Judkins created a fact-checker section on her website, where she accused Kaufusi and her campaign team of misrepresenting her record in the state legislature by spreading flyers.
“It’s been the best of times and the worst of times,” Judkins added. “It’s been fun to get to know Provo in a more intimate way.”
Initial unofficial results showed Judkin’s losing to Kaufusi by just 162 votes. Now, Judkins is up by 59 votes.
More information on Kaufusi can be found on her website.
