LOVES PARK, Ill (WTVO) — The Boone-Winnebago Regional Office of Education has launched a clothing drive to help Stateline students stay warm this winter.

The drive is collecting new or gently used winter clothing items for all ages and sizes, including coats, hats, gloves, scarves, snow pants, and boots.

“Our goal is that no child goes without warm clothing,” said Alexandra Zimmerman, Senior Director of Student Support Services at the Boone-Winnebago Regional Office of Education. “A lot of our students have to walk to school every day if they’re not walking, they are still standing at a bus stop for significant periods of time and when it snows you never know what the bus schedule will be like they’re waiting out there longer than normal.”

While the primary focus is on K-12 students, the office also accepts adult-sized clothing to support parents and caregivers.

All donations are distributed directly to families in need by the ROE’s Student Support Services Team.

Community members are encouraged to donate what they can.

Donations can be dropped off at the Boone-Winnebago Regional Office of Education, located at 300 Heart Boulevard, Loves Park, IL 61111, from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
