BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — Beloit Police say they have identified and are searching for the suspect in a double shooting in early October that resulted in one death.

According to authorities, police were called to the 1500 block of White Avenue around 3 a.m. on October 2nd.

There, police said a group of individuals was gathered inside the residence when the shooting took place.

A 51-year-old man, later identified as Charles Evans, suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

Another man, 41 years old, arrived at a local hospital after being shot in the same incident, police said.

“Through investigative efforts and the review of witness statements, a suspect has been identified. The Beloit Police Department is working closely with the Rock County District Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate charges and the requirements for an extraditable warrant,” Captain Chris Eberhardt said in a statement.

“At this time, there is probable cause for the arrest of the suspect. If local law enforcement locates this individual, they will be taken into custody. The Beloit Police Department is not releasing the suspect’s name, as the investigation remains active and formal charges have not yet been filed,” Eberhardt continued.
