BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Central Valley Congressmember Vince Fong issued a statement Tuesday evening following the release of the Prop 50 election results.

Early returns indicate that Prop 50 will pass with a majority of California voters weighing in to support redistricting.

In his statement, Fong makes it clear that he will continue to fight for California, following a result he says means “millions of Californians will be left without representation in Congress.”

If Prop 50 has shown us anything, it is that Gavin Newsom is so desperate to be president that he is willing to steamroll the state constitution and rural communities in pursuit of his personal ambition.

Fong ends his statement with a promise that he will continue to be “a fierce advocate for the millions of forgotten Californians who have had their voices silenced.”

Fong currently represents California’s 20th Congressional District, which is among the districts that would be moved if Proposition 50 goes ahead.
