Tuesday: First set of 60 degree high temperatures in 2.5 weeks
It was another mild day Tuesday by early November standards. Highs areawide peaked in the low to mid-60s, a level nearly 10 degrees above normal.
It marked the first time the daytime high reached the 60s on back to back to days since October 17-18 when the highs reached 74 degrees and 73 degrees respectively.
The mild conditions occurred under mostly sunny skies with three quarters of the day’s possible sunshine recorded. Southerly winds gusted above 20 mph which helped usher in the mild readings.
As mild as it was here, even warmer air was present across the Plains, including a record breaking 80 degree high temperature at Rapid City, SD where highs were nearly 25 degrees above normal.
Highs were significantly above normal across a large swath where unseasonable late season warmth dominated in places like Amarillo, Texas, Denver, Colorado, North Platte, NE and even Minneapolis, MN.
