UTAH COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Several lanes are closed due to a fatal crash that occurred near on southbound I-15 near milepost 285, at the point of the mountain.
According to the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), a crash occurred at the point of the mountain between Lehi and Draper. Currently, the three right lanes and right shoulder are currently blocked.
Utah Highway Patrol confirmed that a dump truck hauling a flatbed trailer was stopped on the right shoulder and a passenger vehicle struck it from behind around 7:10 p.m. While the dump truck driver was uninjured, the driver of the passenger car was fatally injured.
The driver of the passenger car has only been identified as a female.
Initial estimates stated that the crash would be cleared up before 7:50 p.m. However, emergency crews are still on scene and responding to the scene. Additionally, UHP has said that the right two lanes will be closed for a few hours for the investigation.
Individuals travelling southbound should expect delays and should consider taking alternate routes.
