‘These are the crucial elections that impact our lives’: A closer look at Utah’s 2025 voter turnout

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Results for the 2025 elections are coming in, and ABC4 is taking a look at the voter turnout statewide.

“Turnouts in municipal elections tend to be quite a bit lower,” Ricky Hatch, an auditor with the Weber County Clerk’s office, said. “Generally, about half of what you would see in a presidential election.”

Hatch says many people don’t choose to vote in municipal elections. “These are the crucial elections that impact our lives, much more than a president, senate, or governor race would.”

Cache County

Cache County had a 26% voter turnout— a 1% decrease from the 2024 elections.

“The biggest factor in determining what drives turnout is what’s on the ballot,” Hatch told ABC4.com.

Currently, the county has 60,179 registered voters. Unofficial reports show that 15,522 ballots were cast in the 2025 elections.

Salt Lake County

Utah’s largest county, Salt Lake, saw a voter turnout of 23% in the 2025 elections. That is a 1% decrease from the 2024 elections.

Salt Lake County has a total of 551,128 registered voters. According to unofficial reports, 126,431 ballots were cast in this year’s election.

Utah County

The county currently has 105,618 registered voters. Unofficial reports show that 27,144 ballots were cast in the 2025 elections.

Weber County

There was a 31% voter turnout in Weber County in 2025— a 5% increase from the 2024 elections.

“In Weber County, we anticipate the turnout to be in the high-30% range,” Hatch shared. “Statewide I wouldn’t anticipate much different.”
