Temporary restraining order issued over the conditions at Broadview immigration site

BROADVIEW, Ill. — A federal judge granted a temporary restraining order Wednesday over the conditions at the Broadview immigration detention center.

The order requires the government to provide a clean bedding mat and bedding with enough place to sleep for everyone who spends the night at the facility.

The government must also supply personal care items like soap and toilet paper and provide adequate shower and toilet facilities among other basic amenities.

The restraining order was issued after former detainees testified about unacceptable conditions in the facility.

The government has yet to respond to the order.
