The blood drives are part of an effort to make blood donation more accessible to residents in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. The Rock River Valley Blood Center, which has physical locations in Rockford, Belvidere, and Freeport, is using its mobile unit, the ‘blood-mobile,’ to reach more donors.
“We want donating blood to be as convenient as possible for people,” said John Seger, a recruitment specialist at the Rock River Valley Blood Center.
The blood center is scheduled to partner with several other VFWs throughout the month. On November 10th, blood drives will be held in Lake Geneva and Rochelle. On November 11th, the blood-mobile will be in Roscoe, and on November 13th, a drive will take place in Belvidere.
Residents interested in donating can find a full list of hours and schedule an appointment by visiting the Rock River Valley Blood Center’s website at rrvbc.org.
