Mostly sunny skies but cold front arrives Wednesday night

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Monday, Utah! A weak disturbance moving across Utah is bringing some Monday morning clouds to the region. As the system departs, look for decreasing clouds and more sunshine for our Monday afternoon. Highs will warm into the upper 60s to near 70 in northern Utah. Temperatures will likely warm into the upper 70s to near 80 for SW Utah.

Look for mostly clear and cool conditions for our Monday night. Overnight lows will dip into the 30s and 40s for northern Utah, with overnight lows in the upper 40s for SW Utah.

Election day weather is looking great across the Beehive state. Temperatures Tuesday morning will start in the 40s and quickly warm into the upper 60s to near 70 for northern Utah. Highs will climb into the upper 70s to near 80 for SW Utah.

Breezy southwest winds will pick up across Utah on Wednesday, ahead of our next weather maker. A few clouds will begin to increase by Wednesday afternoon but we should mainly stay dry on Wednesday.

The cold front will graze past northern Utah Thursday morning, bringing a chance for a few showers for areas along and north of I-80. Right now, areas south of Utah county look to remain dry with this frontal passage. Most areas north of I-80 are looking at only around a 0.10″ of rain possible. Some locations closer to the Bear River Range could pick up near a 0.25″, but not expecting a big rain event with this one.

The bigger story with this front will be the shift back to near normal temperatures to close out the week in northern Utah. High temperatures by Thursday and Friday will only be in the upper 50s for northern Utah with highs in the lower 70s for southern Utah. A couple of weak disturbances to our north may help to increase the clouds at times across N. Utah, but nothing significant is expected through the weekend. Highs will remain near 60° for northern Utah, and in the low to mid 70s for SW Utah.

Looking way out in the long-range world, it looks like a growing signal for a more active and wetter pattern could develop across Utah by mid-November. Until, then the chances for any decent measurable precipitation is looking pretty bleak.
