Rokita made his desires clear in a post on X,
Rokita’s tweet was a repost of a weekend crime breakdown Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police President Rick Snyder put out. Snyder’s post indicated at least 14 people were shot and four others were stabbed in Indianapolis last weekend.
“Another violent weekend in our state’s capital,” Rokita wrote in his post. “It’s shameful that this is a regular occurrence and even more shameful that the leadership here refuses to do anything about it. Hoosiers deserve to feel safe and secure in their communities but instead are stuck living in a never-ending crisis with no end in sight. We need law and order restored.”

In September, two people were killed and five others were injured during a shooting on the northwest side of Indianapolis. Seven people were shot the morning of July 5 in downtown Indianapolis. Two juveniles were killed in the shooting and four other kids were arrested for their alleged roles in the incident.
In March 2024, seven juveniles were injured in a shooting in downtown Indianapolis. Five people were injured in a shooting on Teakwood Drive on the south side of Indianapolis in July 2024.
Nine people were also injured in a stabbing incident on the northwest side of Indianapolis in June 2024.
According to a report from NewsNation, Trump has already deployed the national guard in major U.S. cities like Memphis, Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland and Washington, D.C., this year.
FOX59/CBS4 has reached out to the office of Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett for a statement on Rokita’s social media post. The mayor’s office has not yet responded to that request.
