Gov. Beshear orders flags to half-staff in honor of plane crash victims

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Governor Andy Beshear ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff.

He says this should last through sunset on November 9, and is in honor of those lost because of a plane crash near the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

Gov. Beshear says flags across the commonwealth are already at half-staff in honor and remembrance of former governor Martha Layne Collins and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The Associated Press reports the plane with three people aboard crashed about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday as it was departing for Honolulu from UPS Worldport at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. The AP reports the crash had a ripple effect, striking and causing smaller explosions at Kentucky Petroleum Recycling and hitting Grade A Auto Parts, though it could have been worse, Gov. Andy Beshear said.
