SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WOWK) — Monday night, the Lawrence County community came together to grieve, remember and honor two young boys who lost their lives in an ATV accident over the weekend.

Friends, family members, classmates and neighbors gathered outside South Point High School for a candlelight vigil, holding balloons, candles and prayers for the boys’ families.

One of the victims, Keenan Honeycutt, was remembered as “A Light.” His parents said the 9-year-old loved playing football and brought unmatched energy both on and off the field. His father, Jack Honeycutt, said he plans to continue holding vigils every year.

“Every birthday, I’m gonna do stuff for them. Every Christmas, every holiday, every, every day when the date is. When he passed away, this day right here, this candlelight is going to go on,” he said. “Until I die, every day on this day. I’ll make sure to call and keep them both at the same candlelight every day, every time of the year. On this date.”

The boys were friends and also students at Burlington Elementary School, playing youth sports in Lawrence County.

The Lawrence County community stood united in support of the grieving families.
