Braun: Indiana flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Dick Cheney

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Gov. Mike Braun has ordered that Indiana flags at state facilities should be lowered to half-staff in honor of former Vice President Dick Cheney.

According to a news release from Braun’s office, flags at state facilities should remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of Cheney’s funeral.

Cheney died at the age of 84 late Monday due to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease, according to previous reports.

Cheney served as vice president under President George W. Bush and helped lead the “war on terror” following the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Cheney also served as the defense secretary in the George H.W. Bush administration and was former President Gerald Ford’s chief of staff.

“Governor Braun encourages Hoosiers to help honor Cheney’s life and legacy by lowering flags to half-staff at homes and businesses across the state,” the release said.

As of this story’s publication, Cheney’s funeral date has not been set.
