The emergency call to report that a woman was stuck down in the quarry located on the 12500 block of West Bradford Street was made around 11 a.m.
Details from the Los Angeles Fire Department were sparse, but officials said they were working in unified command with the Los Angeles Police Department.
The woman was believed to be around 40 years old, and her condition was not immediately clear. Aerial footage from Sky5 appeared to show the woman alert and moving—and possibly vaping.
Emergency vehicles were seen parked in multiple locations near the quarry, and several firefighters were seen standing on the edge of the slope above the woman.
Around 3:45 p.m., a first responder began to descend to her location, at which point she was given a helmet and guided up to safety but was immediately handcuffed by police on the scene.
It was not immediately clear if she was arrested or simply detained briefly. Police have not provided additional information at this time.
