SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) — Several U.S. states are holding elections on Tuesday, but Illinois is not among the list.

Illinois’ next General Primary election is scheduled to be held on March 17th, 2026.

The election will feature an election for Illinois Governor, with several candidates declared to take on current Democrat Gov. JB Pritzker, who is seeking a third term.

Declared Republican candidates include: Wirepoints president Ted Dabrowski, Sen. Darren Bailey, real-estate developer Rick Heidner, DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick, and businessman Joseph Severino.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D) is not running for re-election, leaving his U.S. Senate seat open.

Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton, Rep. Robin Kelly, and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi are in the race.

Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is seeking re-election, along with Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Treasurer Michael Frerichs.

All of Illinois’ 118 State House of Representatives seats are up for election, as well as several Senate seats.
