Section of N 1st Street closed after 18-wheeler runs into powerlines

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A section of N 1st Street is closed after an 18-wheeler ran into powerlines in the area.

The incident happened around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Police told KTAB and KRBC an 18-wheeler was leaving a parking lot when it caught some low-hanging power lines and pulled them down.

N 1st Street is currently closed from Pioneer Drive to Leggett Street. Power poles and electrical lines are down.

Electrical crews are working to clean up the crash and restore power. It’s unknown how long this will take.

No injuries have been reported, but the driver is stuck inside the cab while cleanup continues.
