ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — RPS 205 took a closer look at the Illinois Report Card results at the Committee of the Whole Meeting.

Some of the growths mentioned during the presentation included English Language Arts proficiency, math proficiency, freshman on track, and graduation rates.

Improvement needs, however, out of all schools based in Illinois, 10 schools in the area are performing in the bottom 5 percent.

Chief of Schools Dr. Morgan Gallagher said the purpose of the presentation was to make sure the board was fully aware of how the state is measuring the school’s performance.

“Academic proficiency or academic growth, reducing chronic absenteeism, improving our graduation rate, those have all been in place for several years, which has been great for our school leadership in terms of being able to do that progress monitoring year over year to make sure that we’re constantly refining our systems for supporting our students,” explained Gallagher.
