Opening the CBS 42 Time Capsule: A look at the letters placed inside

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — This week CBS 42 is looking ahead to the future of the Magic City, but first we’re taking a look at what was left in the CBS 42 2016 time capsule.

CBS 42 aired its Birmingham 2025 special report in 2016 highlighting where the city could be in ten years. Left in the time capsule were letters from community leaders, local students, staff photos, and more.

Before looking toward the future, CBS 42’s Sherri Jackson visited with those who left letters in the time capsule to reflect on what they wrote and on the past ten years:

Former Birmingham Mayor William Bell

Joan Wright, Executive Director of Childcare Resources

Dr. Ed Partridge, Former Executive Director of UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center

Former Governor Robert Bentley
