Joint investigation yields K in cash, 170g of meth in Burke County
BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A joint investigation involving the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department, and the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office concluded Wednesday, with the arrest of Jamie Gray following a traffic stop conducted by Burke County deputies on Highway 70 West, near Snowhill Church Road.

Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to assist with a K-9 unit. A search of the vehicle recovered approximately 164 grams of methamphetamine and $2,016 in cash.

A subsequent search warrant was executed for Gray’s residence in Marion.

Investigators recovered an additional $15,701 in cash, along with approximately 47 grams of fentanyl, 7 grams of methamphetamine, and 25 grams of marijuana.

Ashley Sanders was located at the residence and also arrested.

Gray is being held on a $250,000 bond and is facing the following charges:

Burke County

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substances
  • PWIMSD Methamphetamine

McDowell County

  • Trafficking Opium or Heroin
  • PWIMSD Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance
  • Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substances

Sanders is being held on a $300,000 bond on the following charges:

McDowell County

  • Trafficking Opium or Heroin
  • PWIMSD Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance
  • Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substance
