1 dead after plane crashes into Madison County tree line, catches fire

MADISON COUNTY, Ind. — One person is dead after a small plane reportedly crashed into a tree line before catching fire in a central Indiana field.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department said crews were called Tuesday afternoon to a field in the 4200 block of N. 100 West, which is just north of Anderson, for a reported plane crash.

Upon arrival, officials said they found a small aircraft on fire in a nearby field. The plane had reportedly crashed into a tree line before hitting the ground.

The Sheriff’s Department did not immediately provide any other information. FOX59/CBS4 is now looking to confirm more details.
