The fatal accident happened around 9:15 p.m. Sunday on the 300 block of West 35th Street.
According to police, a red sedan, driven by a 24-year-old woman with a 21-year-old female passenger, was traveling eastbound when the driver lost control and crossed over the median.
The sedan was then struck by a black SUV, being driven by an adult male, with an adult male passenger.
The women in the sedan were treated on scene by the Chicago Fire Deparment for trauma to the body. Both were transported to Stroger Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The medical examiner has identified the 21-year-old passenger as Natalia Andrea Acevedo Mendez. The driver has not yet been identified.
Two men in the SUV were transported to the University of Chicago Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No further details have been released. Area Detectives are investigating.
