SOUTH CAROLINA (WSPA) — The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) will change its website address in 2026.
The old website URL, known as scdmvonline.com, will change to dmv.sc.gov on January 5, 2026. For the entirety of 2026, the former web address will redirect to the new webpage link.
If you receive emails from the SCDMV, email addresses will end in “@dmv.sc.gov,” not “@scdmv.net.” All emails sent to addresses ending in “@scdmv.net” will be forwarded automatically, leaders said.
Department officials said the update will help mitigate scammers’ efforts to defraud state residents.
“The new website address will make it clear to South Carolinians that they are dealing directly with us, which will be an added barrier to fraud,” said Kevin Shwedo, executive director of the SCDMV.
Earlier this year, the SCDMV stopped issuing same-day driver’s licenses and identification cards, mailing them instead to streamline the process and enhance security.
