ROCKFORD, Ill (WTVO) — A Rockford man was taken into custody after allegedly stabbing another man in the 3900 block of E. State St.

Tyree Simmons, 63, has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a weapon and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm following the stabbing on November 2nd, Rockford Police reported.

Police said when officers arrived around 12:40 p.m., they located a 49-year-old man who had been stabbed. He was transported to a local hospital, where he received treatment, was later released, and then taken to the Winnebago County Jail to face charges in a separate crime.

Simmons was arrested near the crime scene and is currently being held in custody.
