Officers responded on a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle.
According to the San Jose Police Department, a preliminary investigation revealed that a man riding a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle was heading north on North 24th at a “high rate of speed.” The motorcyclist collided with a 2016 Toyota pickup truck that was backing out of a driveway.
The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The man who was driving the Toyota was not injured and remained on the scene to cooperate with the investigation.
The incident, police said, marked San Jose’s 32nd fatal collision and 33rd traffic death of 2025.
