Man charged after woman dies in two-vehicle crash in Baton Rouge
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of a deadly crash around 10:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Coursey Boulevard and George O’Neal Road. Hector Munoz, 20, was arrested Saturday after an investigation into a two-vehicle crash. He was charged with underage operating while intoxicated.
The crash victim was identified as Jacqueline Carmona, 20, who died as a result of injuries sustained in this crash.
A witness told deputies that Munoz was driving west on George O’Neal Road when he turned left onto Jones Creek Road while running a red light.
Carmona was a passenger in the second vehicle involved in this crash. That vehicle was heading east on Coursey Boulevard when it hit Munoz’s vehicle on the passenger side at the intersection of Jones Creek Road, EBRSO said.
Carmona was extracted from the vehicle by firefighters and taken to the hospital. According to EBRSO, that is where she was pronounced dead.
The drivers of both vehicles took voluntary intoxilyzer tests, and the BAC for Munoz came back at 0.06%. He was unable to complete a standardized field sobriety test due to injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing, and more charges are possible in this case.
