Food drive barrels to be placed at select Utah County polling locations

UTAH COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Community Action Services and Food Bank has partnered with multiple Utah County cities to include food donation barrels in polling centers on Election Day.

On Nov. 4, voters in American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Provo, and Vineyard can bring food donations to the polls to help families impacted by the loss of SNAP benefits.

Community Action Service shared that up to 11,000 families in Utah County have been impacted by the shutdown. As a result, they are asking for donations.

The following items are wanted:

• Canned Soups (all flavors)
• Canned Fruit
• Peanut Butter
• Jelly or Jam
• Macaroni & Cheese
• Kid-Friendly Cereal
• Canned Meat (tuna, chicken, beef, salmon)
• Canned Veggies (corn, peas, carrots)
• Kids diapers (all sizes, most in need of sizes 4, 5, 6, 7, and pull ups) and wipes
• Adult diapers (all sizes, most in need of sizes L, XL)

Food barrels can be found at: 

• American Fork Library
• Pleasant Grove Public Safety Building
• Provo Health and Justice Building
• Vineyard City Hall

Additionally, donations can be made through Community Action Service’s virtual food drive.
