BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — A City of Beloit firefighter is recovering after being injured in a duplex fire on Bootmaker Drive on Monday morning.

The firefighter was injured when part of the home, located in the 2300 block of Bootmaker Drive, collapsed on him. He was treated and released from the hospital, according to officials.

Crews responded to reports that three children were inside the building, but nobody was home at the time of the blaze.

The building is considered a total loss, and officials believe the cause of the fire to be accidental, though the investigation is ongoing.
