9-year-old boy shot in Antioch: police

(KRON) — A 9-year-old boy was shot in Antioch late Sunday afternoon, the Antioch Police Department (APD) announced in a press release. The shooting happened around 4:41 p.m. on the 300 block of Sunset Drive.

APD officers arrived at the scene and discovered that a boy had been struck by gunfire. The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect was determined to be a 17-year-old male, according to APD. The teenager was taken into custody.

No other information was immediately available.
