NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — Deputies are investigating a crash between a U.S. Postal delivery vehicle and a semi that occurred in Noblesville on Monday afternoon.

Deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Noblesville Police Department were called around 1 p.m. to the intersection of State Road 38 and Mill Creek Road to investigate a report of a serious crash.

HCSO said preliminary information indicates the U.S. Postal delivery vehicle had come to a halt at the intersection as it waited to turn south toward Mill Creek Road. At this time, a semi that was traveling westbound was passing through the intersection. The crash occurred when the semi reportedly “failed to slow down in time”, according to HCSO. The semi, which was hauling a flatbed trailer with wood, ended up crashing into the rear of the postal vehicle.

The impact of the collision caused the postal vehicle to spin eastbound before it overturned onto the driver’s side. HCSO said the driver of the U.S. Postal vehicle received treatment at St. Vincent Hospital. Their condition was not provided. Police did not confirm if the driver of the semi sustained any injuries.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
