ISP: Cadiz Police officer involved in serious crash

HENRY COUNTY, Ind. — A serious crash involving a Cadiz Police Department officer and another vehicle is currently being investigated by the Indiana State Police.

According to ISP, at 6:50 a.m. on Sunday, emergency crews were called to State Road 38 and Mechanicsburg Road for a crash involving a Cadiz Police vehicle.

Investigators believe the police vehicle was stopped on the side of the road for an “as-yet-undisclosed reason.” The officer was standing outside of the vehicle when a 2019 Toyota Rav 4 struck the rear of the police vehicle.

The officer was seriously injured and flown by a helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he is currently in stable condition.

The driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the ISP, the road was closed for about four hours while the road was being cleared and an investigation took place.

The crash continues to be under investigation by the Indiana State Police Reconstruction Team.

No additional information has been made available.
