While many smartphones and electronic devices now adjust automatically, residents are reminded to double-check clocks in vehicles, kitchens, and other places that may not reset on their own. Setting clocks back before going to bed Saturday night can help avoid confusion Sunday morning.
Local fire departments also remind residents to use the time change as an opportunity to check smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. The National Fire Protection Association says working alarms can cut the risk of death in a home fire by half.
Daylight saving time will return next spring on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
