Corvette club in Charlotte collects toys for local children
On Saturday, dozens of Corvette owners in the Charlotte area gathered for their annual toy benefit at Hendrick Motorsports. They collected around 1,000 toys for local kids ahead of the holidays.
Altogether, club members have collected thousands of presents through small events like this one.
“We’re in the neighborhood of 12,000 or more toys that we’ve contributed with the Salvation Army as a distribution point for the toys,” Jerome Johnson with Road Runner ‘Vettes said. “People come from all over, and all the Corvette clubs, to want to put back into the community.”
Saturday’s toy drive was a partnership between the Charlotte Road Runner ‘Vettes Corvette Club and the Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte.
