“Just taking what they give me. Easton likes to play a lot of man and cover zero. We’ll take shots when they slack and try to stop the run,” Johnson said. “I read the defender and pull it. Lot of options you can do when they play man.”
He threw for 232 yards and four touchdowns, along with 101 rushing yards and two scores.
“He played a phenomenal game on Friday,” Karr offensive coordinator John Johnson Jr. said. “He usually shows up very big in our biggest games of the year and he has done that throughout his career.”
The performance was just another step for Johnson. Even though the Cougars were Division I Select champs in 2024, keeping a chip on his shoulder and the right mentality will help him achieve the ultimate goal of a repeat.
“We’re just trying to go back-to-back, undefeated. just taking it game by game, play by play. Even if you make us punt, we will come out and execute even more and put points on the board,” Johnson said.
