Community remembers Kentucky’s only female elected governor

Collins served as lieutenant governor under John Y. Brown Jr. before winning the governor’s seat and leading the commonwealth from 1983 to 1987. It was a time when Kentucky governors were limited to a single term, and when, as a woman in politics, she had a lot to prove.
