Centenary College Theatre presenting ‘The Thanksgiving Play’ Oct. 30 – Nov. 2

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Centenary Theatre Program (CTP) is presenting “The Thanksgiving Play,” written by Larissa Fasthorse and directed by Logan Sledge, from Thursday, October 30 to Sunday, November 2.
“In the play, good intentions collide with absurd assumptions,” a press release stated. “Through wickedly funny satire, the play highlights four white teaching artists scrambling to create a politically correct pageant to celebrate both the First Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Month.

“An actress named Alicia, believed to be Native American, is hired to provide cultural authenticity, but later, it is revealed that Alicia is actually white and only portrays Native American characters when not playing other ethnicities.”

Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, with the Sunday showing starting at 2 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults and $15 for military and seniors. Admission is $10 for Centenary students with a valid ID.

According to the release, the production is not recommended for people under the age of 14 due to adult language, violence, and cultural insensitivity. To learn more or purchase tickets, visit cur8.com/21134/project/134565 or contact Logan Sledge at msledge@centenary.edu or call 318.869.5720.
