WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) — One teen is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting at a Halloween party in West Valley City Friday night, according to West Valley City Police.

Just before midnight on Oct. 31, West Valley officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 2600 West 4000 South. According to police, a fight broke out at a Halloween party and spilled into the street.

During the fight, multiple individuals began shooting at each other before fleeing the scene. Several minutes later, Murray Police contacted West Valley Police with information that a vehicle had crashed near Intermountain Medical Center, and that a 17-year-old boy was found deceased inside the car.

“It was determined he had been struck by gunfire in the initial incident,” a press release from West Valley Police states.

A 15-year-old girl who arrived at the hospital was also struck by gunfire, police said. She is reportedly in critical condition.

“The Homicide Unit responded to the scenes and conducted an investigation,” the release states. “The suspects of the shooting are still outstanding. The investigation is ongoing.”

This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as more information becomes available.
