Several West Point parks and day-use areas to close due to government shutdown
Several West Point parks and day-use areas to close due to government shutdown
MOBILE, Ala. (WRBL) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Friday that specified USACE-operated parks and day-use areas will be closed starting Oct. 31, 2025.

According to the USACE, the closure of the recreational areas is due to the government shutdown. Minimal staffing will be available at parks that remain open. The following West Point Parks will be closing:

  • West Point Lake Powerhouse
  • Clark Park
  • Dewberry Park
  • Eagleview Park
  • Georgia Park
  • Whitewater Park
  • Hardley Creek Park
  • Liberty Hill Park
  • Long Cane Park
  • McGee Bridge Park
  • Ringer Park
  • Sunny Point Park
  • Veasey Creek Park
  • West Overlook Park
  • Visitor Center
  • R. Shaefer Heard Campground
  • Holiday Campground
  • Rocky Point Campground
  • Amity Campground
  • Whitetail Ridge Campground
  • R. Shaefer Heard Park
  • Horace King Park, Anderson Park

Registered campers in these area must vacate by Monday, Nov. 3, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., unless otherwise directed by their local office. Park entrance gates will be secured and areas without gates will be clearly marked as closed.
